Blackboard - Getting Started/Kaltura
Start Date: 9/20/2017Start Time: 1:30 PM
End Date: 9/20/2017End Time: 3:30 PM
Event Description:

Prerequisites:  No prior experience with any version of Blackboard is required. Prior knowledge of essential PC navigation skills and knowledge is recommended (such as knowing how to select/copy/paste text from one doc to another, format text in a word processor, do basic searches and navigation of files and folders on your own PC and on the Internet, etc.)

This session will provide instructors with a solid introduction to the Blackboard Learn learning management system, which provides a standardized interface and a set of online educational tools that can help facilitate learning, communication and collaboration in on-ground, hybrid, and fully-online classes offered in our system.

In this session, you will learn the basics of designing and uploading content into a Blackboard course shell. We will review how to create and customize the course menu, upload content files, add links tools (such as Discussions, Messages, etc.) onto the course menu, and explore other features and functions of the system. Everything you do in this session will be grounded in best practices of online course design and delivery, which help you design your own courses in Blackboard right from the start in ways that will enhance and streamline your course navigation and content organization, communication strategies, and classroom management. This session includes:

  • Course Menu modification and customization options
  • Uploading a Syllabus
  • Create and organize your course with Content Areas, Folders, Learning Modules
  • Work with Content Collection to upload and organize files (PDFs, PowerPoints, etc.) that you wish to include in your course
  • Introduction to the Email and Messages tools
  • Add an (ungraded) “Course Questions” Discussion Forum

Note: For each class section listed, the length of the class, the curriculum, and degree of interactivity may vary depending upon location, delivery mode, and instructor. If you have any questions, please email the Contact person listed for the section(s) you are interested in
